Former Scuderia Ferrari F1 team principal Mattia Binotto has taken over as head of Audi

The management of the Formula 1 team Sauber, which from 2026 will compete under the Audi brand, has changed its technical and operational director.

He will replace the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sauber Oliver Hoffman and the head of the project Formula 1 Andreas Seidl. Binotto will take up his duties on 1 August.

Mattia Binotto is a Swiss and Italian engineer. He is the former team principal of the Scuderia Ferrari team in Formula 1. He was born on 3 November 1969 in Switzerland. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and a master's degree in automotive engineering from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. Binotto joined Ferrari in 1995 as an engine engineer and gradually rose through the ranks, holding various technical positions.

He became Ferrari's team principal in 2019, replacing Maurizio Arrivabene. Binotto left his post at the end of 2022.
