The Google Home app is rolling out a new support feature for Nest Hello, aka Nest Doorbell, as part of the Public Preview programme. Users will now be able to control their Nest Hello through the Google Home app and the web version, with an updated camera history that allows them to quickly switch between timeline and event list views.

Here's What We Know

The new app will be available through prompts in the Nest app and other notifications in Google Home.

Owners will be able to easily view doorbell recordings, track activity in your home, and receive notifications of important events.

Google is also introducing a new garage door open detection feature for Nest cameras. Thanks to advanced artificial intelligence, the camera will be able to distinguish an open garage from other objects and will immediately alert you if the door is left open for more than 5 minutes. This will help you to always be confident in the safety of your property. The option is available in the US and Canada with a Nest Aware subscription.

To take advantage of the innovation, you need to be a member of the Google Home Public Preview programme, and the launch will take place over the next few weeks. The move follows support for the first-generation Nest Cam Indoor and Nest Cam Outdoor, which was introduced in 2023.
