Gestures on the Galaxy Ring: snooze the alarm and take pictures without a tripod on Galaxy Fold 6 or Flip 6
Galaxy Ring is Samsung's own take on the smart ring market. The new ring features gesture controls.
Here's How It Works
Samsung's gesture controls are very similar to those already available in the Galaxy Watch line. Using the finger on which the ring is worn, users can tap it with their thumb. A small push when tapping the ring is noticeable on the ring, which is perceived as activation of certain functions.
Using the Galaxy Ring gestures, users can dismiss an alarm while it's going off on their Galaxy phone. Secondly, they can take pictures when the camera app is open. This comes in handy on phones like the Galaxy Fold 6 or Flip 6, as you can prop up the phone without a tripod or third-party stand.
There is a minimal delay between initiating the gesture and activating the shutter, which actually makes it a little difficult to return the hand to its natural position before taking an image.
Owners will not be able to use gestures if the Galaxy Ring is not connected to a Galaxy phone. It can be connected to a Pixel or other Android device.
How To Switch It On
The Galaxy Ring will offer information mostly in the Samsung Health app, but you will need to enable gesture control in the Samsung Wearable app.
- Open the Samsung Wearable app.
- Find and open the Galaxy Ring page.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Gestures.
- Turn on gestures as needed.
