Samsung's Android 15 update separates quick settings and notifications into separate panels
According to recent leaks, one of the key changes in Samsung's Android 15 will be the separation of notifications and quick settings into two separate panels, reflecting a new approach to Android design.
Here's What We Know
Since Android Lollipop in 2014, Google has updated the design by reducing the number of panels from two to one, with notifications appearing first and quick settings appearing with a swipe. Later, Google integrated these elements by placing the quick settings switches in the notification bar. This structure has been maintained until today.
Xiaomi's HyperOS and Honor's MagicOS have already split notifications and quick settings into two separate panels. Users can switch between them by swiping their finger across the screen.
Samsung plans to implement a similar approach in One UI 7. The first panel will display only notifications, and the second will be an updated quick settings layout with a more rounded design. Users will be able to switch between the panels with swipes.
This approach also partially mirrors the design used by Apple for Notification Centre and Control Centre, although without the ability to switch between them. Samsung has borrowed some design elements from iOS for the convenience of its consumers.
Samsung will soon release the first beta version of One UI 7.
