At San Diego Comic-Con 2024, developers from NetherRealm Studios made some important announcements about the further development of Mortal Kombat 1 fighting game.

Here's What We Know

First of all, the developers announced the story expansion Khaos Reigns for Mortal Kombat 1. In it, the inhabitants of the new world created by the deity Liu Kang, will face enemies from an alternate universe led by the titan Havik. The God of Fire must gather allies and stop feuding with his opponents in order to defeat the common enemy.

Buyers of Khaos Reigns will also receive the Kombat Pack 2 character pack, which includes:

  • Noob Saibot;
  • Cyrax;
  • Sektor;
  • Ghostface from the Scream films;
  • Conan the Barbarian from the film franchise of the same name;
  • Terminator T-1000 from the films Terminator 2: Judgment Day and Terminator: Genesis.

Kombat Pack 2 will not be sold separately, it can be obtained either as part of the Khaos Reigns add-on or by purchasing Kombat Pack 1.

Several bonus skins are offered for pre-ordering the add-on.

Fans of the Mortal Kombat 1 franchise will be pleased to see the return of the Animality to the game, which will be released in a free update right after the add-on's release. This type of kills first appeared in Mortal Kombat 3 (1995).

When We Can Expect It

Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns will be released on 24 September.

It will cost $50 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, and $40 on Nintendo Switch.
