Google is expanding the capabilities of its Gmail app for devices with large screens, such as the Galaxy Tab and Galaxy Fold. The update includes three new features that provide a more convenient and improved experience on tablets and foldable devices.

Here's What We Know

Formatting panel

The Gmail composing screen now features a formatting bar at the bottom of the screen that includes all the necessary options for editing text, such as changing the font and creating bulleted lists.

List of keyboard shortcuts

When you connect an external keyboard to your Galaxy Tab or Galaxy Fold, Gmail provides a list of useful keyboard shortcuts. To view this list, open Gmail, go to the compose screen, and press the "?" button on your keyboard.

Smart Compose
Smart Compose is now available on tablets and foldable devices. It offers text prompts as you type, which you can accept by swiping over grey text or by pressing the tab button on the external keyboard.

These updates provide a consistent view of the Gmail composing screen across all devices with large screens, bringing it closer to the web version.

Google has begun rolling out new features to Google Workspace, Workspace Individual, and personal account users. To get the update, go to the Google Play store, tap the profile icon, select "Manage apps & device" and tap the "Update all" button.
