The last year has been a difficult one for Paradox Interactive.

It started with the failed release of Cities Skylines 2, followed by the release of unsuccessful add-ons for popular strategies, then a wave of layoffs, the cancellation of Life by You, the unnoticed by gamers release of The Lamplighters League, the postponement of Prison Architect 2 release and the transfer of the game to another developer, and the delayed production of Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 does not add optimism to the management of Paradox Interactive.

The company published a financial report for the second quarter of 2024, which showed a 90% decrease in profits with a significant increase in costs!

Here's What We Know

Paradox Interactive CEO Fredrik Wester admitted that his company made a number of bad decisions that negatively affected the business and its development prospects. For example, by cancelling Life by You the publisher incurred losses of $19 million, but it was a forced step, as the game had no chance to pay off further production and meet the expectations of both gamers and developers.

Fredrik Vester said that he realises the need to change the approach to work and claims that the management has drawn conclusions from the situation and will take all measures to correct it and prevent it from happening again:

'Despite the enormous irritation of our own mistakes, we have faith. Paradox's future is bright, but we need to roll up our sleeves and work hard to realise the full potential.
