TikTok begins testing a new music search feature similar to Shazam

TikTok is testing a new feature called Sound Search, which allows users to find songs by humming or playing them in the app.

The new feature is designed to make it easier to find your favourite tunes and is currently being tested by a limited number of users. You'll be able to activate "Sound Search" via the microphone icon in the app's search bar.

In early tests, the tool has performed well at identifying popular songs, although lesser-known tunes may be difficult to identify. Once a song is identified, users can access videos of that song or remixes of it. It's important to note that the feature is designed to identify songs, not TikTok sounds or memes. However, some users have noted that the tool can recognise popular TikTok sounds.

TikTok has not yet announced an official launch date for the Sound Search feature.
