Oura plans to add a heart rate zone measurement function to its rings

Evidence in the latest version of the Oura Android app suggests that support for heart rate zones is coming soon. Oura is planning to introduce six different heart rate zones, which is a common feature for smartwatches and fitness trackers.

Here's What We Know

Smart rings are currently easier to track physical activity than smartwatches, but this is changing. They already track heart rate throughout the day, so the ability to process this data into heart rate zones will allow for better tracking of user activity.

APK parsing helps to predict features that may appear in the future based on the code. In the Android version of the Oura app (5.3.4 beta 2), we found lines related to heart rate zones. These options are currently inactive, but give an idea of future implementations.

Oura will provide six heart rate zones, which is more than some other brands. For example, Fitbit has four heart rate zones:

  • light
  • moderate
  • intense;
  • peak.

Oura has added additional zones for greater accuracy. It is not yet known when these features will become available, but there is reason to expect that it will happen in the near future.
