Vivo plans to release its first mixed reality headset in 2025
Vivo has officially announced plans to release its first mixed reality (MR) headset in 2025.
Here's What We Know
The announcement was made at the Imaging Festival in China, where Vivo also unveiled its vision for the future of mobile imaging. Vivo's Executive Vice President Hu Baishan has previously hinted at the company's interest in MR technology, calling it the next major advancement in mobile technology.
Vivo has already released its first augmented reality smart glasses in 2019, which required pairing with 5G smartphones. The new MR device is expected to be more autonomous and offer a more immersive experience similar to Apple Vision Pro.
On the back of strong market performance, Vivo holds the top spot in the Chinese smartphone market with a 19 per cent share. The company also confirmed that its next flagship smartphones in the Vivo X200 series will feature its own Blueprint image sensor, Blueprint Algorithm Sensor and Blueprint Imaging chip.
Competitors such as Huawei and Oppo are also developing similar MR products, but no official confirmations have been made from them yet.
