Information leak: Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 is a new budget chip with lower performance and slower 5G modem

According to leaks, Qualcomm is preparing to announce a new low-cost Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chipset at the Snapdragon event in India. This chip is a less powerful version of the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 from last year.

Here's What We Know

The main changes include a 200MHz lower processor clock speed and a potential reduction in GPU performance. RAM support is limited to 2133MHz LPDDR4X, while its predecessor supported 3200MHz LPDDR5X.

Important changes also apply to the display, which now supports refresh rates of up to 90Hz at FHD+ resolution. The 5G modem now has a download speed of up to 1 Gbps, which is lower than the previous model. The chip supports cameras up to 84 MP and video up to 1080p, 60fps, but with limitations in connection speed and local capabilities.

The official announcement from Qualcomm will take place on 30 July, and in addition to the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2, two more historic announcements are expected.
