Apple plans to use the OLED panel from the iPhone 13 for the new iPhone SE 4
Apple's budget iPhone SE lineup is rumoured to get its next iteration in 2025 and will come with OLED displays from two manufacturers.
Here's What We Know
A new report from The Elec suggests that LG Display may join as the second OLED screen supplier for the upcoming iPhone SE lineup. BOE is the first display supplier for the iPhone SE 4, having won the tender from Samsung due to the lower cost of the panels. Apple has previously worked with BOE on other iPhone models and BOE's share for the SE 4 is expected to be the largest for any iPhone, accounting for 60 to 70 per cent of screens - around 20 million units per year.
The remaining OLED panels for the iPhone SE 4 are expected to come from LG Display. Apple plans to use the iPhone 13 display panel for the SE 4, which should simplify production and reduce costs. Earlier it was reported that the iPhone SE 4 will feature a 6.06-inch display, while the iPhone 13 has a 6.1-inch display. Thus, LG Display may have to make some changes to the panel to match the SE 4. Another display manufacturer, Tianma, has also expressed interest in supplying displays for the iPhone SE 4, but their technology is considered less advanced.
