Google Maps with AR will show the history of Paris
This summer, Google is introducing new functionality to Maps that allows Paris users to immerse themselves in the city's history through augmented reality (AR). Now, with AR, users can see how the Eiffel Tower looked at the 1900 World's Fair, explore the pavilions along the Seine, and experience the atmosphere of 1700s Paris with a recreated Notre Dame.
How To Switch It On
To take advantage of the new feature, simply find a location on Google Maps with AR content, tap the "AR Experience" icon, and raise your device to view it in Lens. If you're not in Paris, you can explore the experience through street view.
This experience is available through Google Arts & Culture and was created in collaboration with Ubisoft. More features are planned in the future.
