The official ceremony of launching the second Ukrainian Ada-class corvette Hetman Ivan Vigovskiy (F-212) took place in Turkey.

The information was shared by the publication Clash Report. The event took place at the RMK Marine shipyard in Istanbul. The ceremony was attended by the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska, Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov, Navy Commander Oleksiy Neizhpapa and other guests.

Flashback

The Ada is a type of coastal anti-submarine corvette developed for the Turkish Navy. The Turkish Navy has already commissioned four such corvettes and plans to commission several more in the near future.

Ukraine has signed a contract to build two such corvettes in 2020. The first corvette is due to enter service with the Ukrainian Navy in 2024. The Ada-type corvette is 99.5 metres long and can accommodate a crew of up to 93 people. The ship's maximum speed reaches 29 knots.
