NYT: Iran asks Russia for advanced air defence systems to prepare for war with Israel

The Russian Security Council Secretary arrived in Tehran on Monday, 5 August, to meet with senior officials as Iran prepares for war with Israel.

Sources say that Moscow has already begun supplying Iran with radars and air defence equipment.

Former Russian Defence Minister Shoigu met with Iran's new president, Massoud Peseshkian, and Iranian Armed Forces Commander Mohammad Bagheri. Shoigu said that Russia is ready "for full cooperation with Iran on regional issues".

As a reminder, Iran decided to retaliate against Israel for the assassination of a Hamas political leader on Iranian soil last week.
