The American concern Boeing is gradually increasing the production of homing missile warheads for missiles used in the Patriot air defence system.

Here's What We Know

According to company representatives, this year Boeing will set its own record for the number of homing warheads produced in a year. These warheads are used in the MIM-104 D/E and F versions of the missile, and they enable the missile to be precisely aimed at the target.

The warheads are produced in two types: the first are semi-active warheads, which are used on D/E missiles and must receive constant target illumination for guidance. The other is an active warhead, which is used on MIM-104F and F MSE missiles and does not require constant target illumination by the system's radar.

The missiles are capable of engaging targets at a certain range and flying autonomously without the use of Patriot aids. Boeing says that the increase in production was due to improved manufacturing processes and production control.

According to the manufacturer, since 2000, the company has delivered more than 5,000 active GCNs on the MIM-104F (PAC-3) version of the missile, and today, the company is preparing to break its own records for the number of warheads produced.
