YouTube is testing new experimental features for Premium subscribers that promise to improve usage of the platform.

Here's What We Know

The first feature is the sleep timer, which allows users to set a time to automatically pause videos. This is especially useful for those who fall asleep to their favourite content. The second feature is the dream screen, which allows content creators to use artificial intelligence to create attractive green-screen backgrounds. This feature is available through the Shorts camera in the mobile app. The third feature is Ask, which provides answers and recommendations without interrupting video playback. An "Ask" box will appear below the video, offering preset prompts or the ability to enter your own queries.

These features are available to test for a limited time: the sleep timer is available until 2 September, the dream screen until 20 August, and the Ask feature until 21 August. YouTube is actively collecting user feedback to refine and improve the features, which could lead to their permanent rollout on the platform.
