The US Air Force Research Laboratory has signed a $48 million contract with BAE Systems to develop and refine the Insight system for data analysis used by military intelligence analysts.

Here's What We Know

Insight, originally developed by the Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency, helps process masses of complex data from multiple sources into operational intelligence.

It uses "multiple intelligence signal processing, multi-level domain analysis, predictive analytics, machine learning and automation to fill gaps in current military intelligence analysis capabilities," BAE explained.

As part of the contract, the system will be enhanced to process intelligence from multiple sources, including sensors, satellites and drones.

The main focus will be on integrating the system with on-board applications such as Resolute Sentry, which provides battlespace awareness in highly complex environments.
