Google has officially unveiled the Pixel 9 series, which includes a number of significant camera updates. The new series reinforces the Pixel's position as one of the key smartphones for photography and video, in particular thanks to the improved camera.

Here's What We Know

The Pixel 9 now features a new 48MP ultra-wide sensor, which is 4 times the resolution of the 12MP sensor on previous models.

The Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro XL also feature an improved 5x telephoto lens with 48MP resolution, which allows you to zoom up to 30x. These features are also available for video recording. The much-anticipated Zoom Enhance option is currently missing from the Pixel 9 series.

Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL now support 8K video recording at up to 30 frames per second. This feature is only available for Pro-level devices. The Video Boost feature, which processes video on Google's servers, allows for up to twice as fast video processing compared to Pixel 8 Pro, which will be important for working with high-resolution files.

New Pixel 9 camera features include Pixel Studio, an AI-powered image creation and editing tool.

The Add Me feature allows you to combine double-exposure images, ensuring that objects are added smoothly and positioned correctly. The updated Magic Editor suite also uses the latest Imagen models to improve framing and proportions, and the Reimagine tool lets you use text prompts to edit photos and create unique images.

The last major update is to the Panorama mode, which now delivers detailed, high-quality photos even in low light, making it easier to capture landscapes and wide group shots.
