Google plans to expand on the Circle to Search feature first introduced on the Galaxy S24 smartphone by adding audio search capability. This feature will allow users to search for music playing nearby or even hum a tune to identify it.

Here's What We Know

The new feature was revealed in the 15.32.36 beta version of Google's Android app. To activate it, you need to open Circle to Search and tap on the musical note icon in the Google search bar. Google will then start identifying the song playing on your device or nearby.

The audio search feature is under internal testing and may be unveiled soon. Google is expected to show it off at the Pixel 9 smartphone launch event. This innovation will allow users to do without third-party apps, such as Shazam, to recognise music.

Google has previously offered an automatic music recognition feature on Pixel smartphones that displayed the track name on the lock screen. It is possible that a similar feature will be available on all Android devices in the future.
