A few years ago, all the big companies decided that it was vital for them to create their own launchers to run their games. As a result, gamers had a huge amount of unnecessary and annoying programs on their computers, and over time, developers decided to move away from this trend.

Firaxis Studios has announced that you won't need 2K Games' Launcher to run Sid Meier's Civilisation VII.

Here's What We Know

Firaxis community manager Sarah Engel said that the new 4X-strategy will be launched without any connection to 2K's launcher and will use only the functionality of the shop where the player will buy it.

The developers will also save Sid Meier's Civilisation VI from a similar problem: first it will happen in Steam-version, and later the dependence on 2K launcher will be removed in EGS.

More information about Sid Meier's Civilisation VII developers will reveal on the 20th of August. During the opening ceremony of gamescom 2024 the authors will present the first gameplay trailer of the seventh part of the series, and after the show on YouTube-channel FiraxisGames will be a detailed presentation of the game with details from the developer.

When We Can Expect It

Civilisation 7 is expected to release in the first quarter of 2025 on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam).
