Meta has introduced the new Meta Quest HDMI Link app, which allows users to connect their Meta Quest 2, 3, and Pro VR headsets to HDMI and DisplayPort-enabled devices such as game consoles, laptops, and even smartphones.

Here's What We Know

The app effectively turns the headset into a virtual display. The app provides low-latency 1080p content streaming, allowing users to customise the virtual screen in their VR environment.

Meta Quest HDMI Link requires a compatible capture card that connects to the headset via USB.

However, this feature does not support playback of HDCP-protected content, which limits the ability to watch some movies and TV shows.

Meta notes that HDMI Link does not replace existing wireless features such as Air Link, but is intended for situations where Wi-Fi is unstable or unavailable.

The app is currently available in the App Lab, indicating it is still in development.
