The Indian media reported on the "first test" of the long-range Gaurav glide bomb, which successfully hit a target at a training ground in Odisha, south-eastern India.

Here's What We Know

The bomb was launched from a Su-30MKI multi-role jet fighter. The Gaurav uses satellite and inertial navigation to guide the bomb, however, the range of the bomb is not disclosed, but for this type of bomb, the range is estimated to be between 80 and 100 km.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time the Indian bomb has been launched. For example, the country talked about the "first test" in October 2021, when it hit a naval target at the same range. However, then a version with semi-active laser guidance was used.

In general, India began work on glide and precision-guided bombs at the beginning of the previous decade.
