Here's What We Know
"Just a few hours ago, the first soldiers and military equipment of the German 21st Rapid Reaction Brigade arrived in Lithuania, crossing the Polish-Lithuanian border," the Lithuanian Armed Forces website said.
The photos show a large number of MAN HX58 army trucks with trailers, as well as Mercedes G-class SUVs. In total, according to the Lithuanian ministry, more than 650 pieces of equipment will arrive in their country.
The military contingent with all the equipment will be delivered in different ways: by sea and by land by 22 August.
The German 21st Panzer Brigade is practising the rapid deployment of units to Lithuania to protect NATO's eastern flank as part of the Grand Eagle-2/24 exercise. The exercise is also testing the speed and effectiveness of the German army's redeployment and its interaction with the Lithuanian Armed Forces.
