The Acolyte, a series aimed primarily at children and teen audiences, premiered in early June.

The new series based on the Star Wars universe was the biggest series premiere on Disney+ in 2024, but that didn't help it.

Here's What We Know

Several reputable media outlets, including DeadLine and Hollywood Reporter, have reported that Disney will not renew The Acolyte and will close the series on its first season.

This information has not been officially confirmed yet, but since a large part of the public remained dissatisfied with The Acolyte, such a move looks quite reasonable and predictable. The attitude to the series is eloquently demonstrated by viewers' evaluations on aggregators. Thus, on Rotten Tomatoes it has only 18% "freshness" according to viewers, but at the same time 78% of positive reviews from critics.

The series was rapidly losing the interest of the public and by the third episode it was of little interest to anyone.

Recall, the events of The Acolyte unfold a hundred years before the first episode of the film saga in the heyday of the Galactic Republic and the absence of military conflicts. At some point there is a wave of Jedi assassinations and the main characters need to sort out who wants to kill the guardians of peace and tranquility of the Galaxy.

The Acolyte consists of eight episodes and is available on Disney+.
