Google Photos has received an important update that addresses an issue with editing Ultra HDR images. Version 6.96.0.663027175 of the app now allows you to perform basic edits, such as cropping and rotation, without losing Ultra HDR information.

Here's What We Know

Previously, editing Ultra HDR images resulted in the loss of this technology, which caused inconvenience to users.

Ultra HDR, introduced with the Pixel 8 series, provides enhanced colour and contrast through HDR metadata.

However, Google Photos hasn't always been able to cope with this standard, and issues with HDR and Ultra HDR have been seen in previous versions. The update now fixes these issues, allowing you to retain all the benefits of Ultra HDR even after editing.
