Black Myth: WuKong conquers Steam and sets single-player online record - action game attracts over 2.2 million players
Yesterday was the release of Black Myth: WuKong action game, which was the debut game of a small Chinese studio Game Science.
After one day we can state that the game was a resounding success and even set an impressive record.
Here's What We Know
On the day of release, Black Myth: WuKong's online peak exceeded 2.2 million people - and that's just on Steam! The game has surpassed such super-popular games as Counter-Strike 2, Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring, Hogwarts Legacy, Baldur's Gate 3 and Palworld and is second only to PUBG with its 3.2 million players. But this figure doesn't look unattainable and probably in the coming days Monkey King will become the King of Steam as well.
Thus, Black Myth: WuKong has set a record for the number of simultaneous players among all single-player games in the history of Steam. Notably, 88.1 per cent of the total is from the Chinese region, which is not surprising since the game is based on the mythology of this country.
In Steam WuKong has 96% positive reviews, but let us remind you that Black Myth is available on PS5 and EGS, surely the game's results are not worse there.
