Experts tried the current demo version of Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl and were satisfied with the technical state of the game
At gamescom 2024, the Ukrainian studio GSC Game World offered visitors and press representatives to get acquainted with a new demo of the shooter S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl.
Here's What We Know
At previous events the developers have already provided demo versions of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, which journalists praised for the atmosphere, gameplay and narrative, but noted that the technical state of the shooter leaves much to be desired.
Now the experts have got acquainted with the current version of the shooter and are happy to state that the developers have improved the game significantly over the past few months.
John Linneman from Digital Foundry was able to play S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 on the Xbox Series X devkit and reported that he was impressed with the technical state of the shooter. The game worked "very well" and gave a stable 60 FPS, but the console was very warm, which clearly does not go in favour of the device. The expert suggested that on Xbox Series X there will be no mode with an emphasis on the quality of graphics, so users of this console will pass the shooter only at 60 FPS.
Praises S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 and another reputable journalist - editor-in-chief of The Verge Tom Warren. He noted that the quality of the game is such that both PC-gamers and Xbox console users will be delighted (from the author: although it is not clear how the game will work on the technically outdated and initially weak Xbox Series S).
When We Can Expect It
Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl will be released on November 20 on PC and Xbox Series, and will be available immediately in the Xbox Game Pass catalogue.
