Apple unveils new beta firmware for AirPods Pro 2 with head gesture support ahead of iOS 18 release
Apple has introduced an updated beta firmware version for the AirPods Pro 2 in preparation for the iOS 18 release next month. The new version, 7.0.290 (7A5290a), adds a number of new features, including head gestures to accept or reject calls.
Here's What We Know
These new features will only be available for AirPods Pro 2, as other models do not support them.
The new firmware also improves voice isolation in noisy environments and enhanced spatial sound for gaming. The update will automatically download to AirPods if they already have the beta firmware and are connected to an iPhone that is online.
To install the beta firmware for the first time, you will need to have Xcode 16 to enable the developer menu on your iPhone or iPad. The new features will become available with the release of iOS 18.
