Samsung has officially announced the development of new devices with dual folding and roll-up screens. This information was presented at the IMID 2024 exhibition in Korea.

Here's What We Know

Samsung Display vice president Chung Yi revealed that the company is working on many device form factors to meet the needs of users in the age of artificial intelligence. New technologies include screens that can be folded twice and rolled up, as well as stretchable micro-LED displays that can increase in size up to 1.25 times and return to their original state.

Samsung already received patents for triple folding and collapsing displays earlier this year. The company aims to create devices with large screens that are easy to carry around. Apart from Samsung, other companies such as Huawei, Xiaomi and OPPO have also shown interest in developing similar devices. Huawei plans to release its first triple folding smartphone next month, which could cost up to $4900.
