Ukraine showed the first video of the launch of the Palianytsia long-range attack drone missile jet

Today - 24 August - on Ukraine's Independence Day, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the successful testing of a new weapon.

Here's What We Know

Ukrainian engineers have developed a drone missile "Palianytsia" (Palianytsia). The characteristics of the weapon are kept secret, but in essence - it is a long-range strike drone equipped with a jet engine, which makes it much faster and more powerful.

Zelensky said that combat tests of the Palianitsia were successful and all targets were hit.

This is an important development, as so far western countries have forbidden Ukraine from hitting their weapons against targets on russian territory, and now the country will have its own effective long-range weapon.

The name "Palianitsya" is symbolic for Ukrainians. Traditionally, this is the name of a special kind of bread in Ukraine, but because such a familiar word is difficult for foreigners to pronounce due to phonetic peculiarities, potential Russian spies and spotters can be easily identified by asking them to pronounce "palyanitsya". Among Ukrainians this word has acquired a sacred meaning, and it is symbolic that the new weapon was given such a name.
