Amazon CEO Andy Jassy has revealed that using Amazon Q AI to update code has saved the company the equivalent of 4,500 years of developer work. He announced this on his X page.

Here's What We Know

The technology has saved Amazon $260 million in infrastructure costs by speeding up the automation of code updates. Jesse noted that 79% of automatically generated code reviews were accepted without changes, demonstrating the effectiveness of Amazon Q in large companies.

Earlier this year, Jassy mentioned Amazon Q's capabilities in his letter to shareholders, as well as in the company's recent SEC filings. He emphasised that developers could save months by using Amazon Q to migrate to newer and more secure versions of Java code. In the future, Amazon Q will also help developers convert code to .NET.

Amazon Web Services CEO Matt Garman predicted in a recent interview that AI could revolutionise the programming profession in the coming years and most developers will stop writing code manually.
