An interesting and unexpected news was shared by the Finnish company Remedy Entertainment.

The authors of the famous games Control, Quantum Break, Max Payne and Alan Wake have announced their co-operation with Annapurna Pictures.

Here's What We Know

Under the terms of the mutually beneficial agreement, media company Annapurna Pictures received the rights to create films, TV series and other media content based on Remedy games, primarily Control and Alan Wake.

Annapurna Pictures will receive the majority of the profits from the media projects. In turn, the company is funding 50% of the development budget for the Control 2 video game.

Remedy will receive a large share of income from the game sales only after the partner's investments are recouped. Importantly, the Finnish developers retain the rights to their intellectual property and full creative freedom.

Annapurna Pictures CEO Megan Ellison did not share any plans to use Remedy's IP, but expressed confidence that the co-operation will be fruitful and mutually beneficial:

The future of storytelling requires the seamless integration of games, film and television, and this partnership will allow us to explore new ways to bring these stories to life. By utilising Remedy's innovative narratives and their immersive worlds, we can push the boundaries of how stories are told and experienced in different mediums.

Remedy Entertainment CEO Tero Virtala is confident that the deal with Annapurna Pictures will have a positive impact on the quality of the upcoming Control 2 and the overall popularity of their games.

This news is not surprising, as all Remedy games are highly cinematic and well suited for film adaptations.
