According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, Apple is in talks to invest in OpenAI, a generative artificial intelligence company.

Here's What We Know

OpenAI's ChatGPT will be integrated into future versions of iOS. If the talks succeed, Apple will join a multi-billion dollar funding round led by Thrive Capital, which values the startup at more than $100 billion.

Microsoft and Nvidia are also considering participating in the round. Microsoft has already invested $13 billion in OpenAI over the past five years and has integrated GPT technology into its products. Apple plans to implement ChatGPT in iPhone 15 Pro and later versions by directing user queries beyond Apple Intelligence capabilities to ChatGPT. ChatGPT integration is expected to appear in the iOS 18 update later in 2024. Apple also plans to add support for other artificial intelligence chatbots such as Google's Gemini.
