iOS 18 is the latest version of Apple's operating system, which promises many new features. However, not all iPhone models will be able to update to this version.

Here's What We Know

Last year, some older iPhone models, such as the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X, were excluded from the list of compatible devices for iOS 17.

Now that the iPhone 16 and iOS 18 lineup is expected to be announced at Apple's event, you can check whether your iPhone will support the new OS version. If your device supported iOS 17, it is likely to be compatible with iOS 18.

List of models that can be updated:

  • iPhone SE (second generation and later)
  • iPhone XR
  • iPhone XS
  • iPhone XS Max
  • iPhone 11
  • iPhone 11 Pro
  • iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone 12
  • iPhone 12 mini
  • iPhone 12 Pro
  • iPhone 12 Pro Max
  • iPhone 13
  • iPhone 13 mini
  • iPhone 13 Pro
  • iPhone 13 Pro Max
  • iPhone 14
  • iPhone 14 Plus
  • iPhone 14 Pro
  • iPhone 14 Pro Max
  • iPhone 15
  • iPhone 15 Plus
  • iPhone 15 Pro
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max

However, if you have an iPhone from 2017 or older (iPhone 8 or iPhone X), it will not be able to update to iOS 18. These models will continue to work, but will not have access to the new features.

As for the new Apple Intelligence feature, its beta version will only be available for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Older models will probably not have access to it. So, if you plan to try Apple Intelligence, you may have to wait for newer iPhone models or update your smartphone.
