Last month, the free Gemini tier was upgraded to Flash version 1.5, which is now 50% faster in processing responses. This is thanks to significant latency improvements that Google has implemented recently.

Here's What We Know

Increased context window to 32k tokens compared to the previous 8k. Increasing the context window to 32k tokens means that Gemini can now process and hold much more textual information in memory when responding to user requests

Gemini 1.5 Flash was announced to developers in May, when Gemini Advanced was upgraded to 1.5 Pro

At the same time, the Google Tasks extension is starting to expand beyond the Pixel 9 series, and is already available on devices such as the Pixel 8, although availability to all users is still limited. Among the new features is the ability to take photos of checklists and add them to Google Tasks.

Google has also introduced a new @OpenStax extension for Gemini that provides answers based on Rice University's OpenStax educational resources. Additionally, Gemini can now create interactive practice tests on a variety of topics, complementing the platform's educational features.
