Wrong message? No problem! Social network X adds an option to edit private messages
Social network X, formerly known as Twitter, has finally introduced one of the most anticipated features for private messages: the ability to edit messages.
Here's What We Know
The message editing feature became available to iOS users this past weekend. One of the company's engineers announced the launch and noted that the message editing feature will soon be available on other platforms. To edit, you'll need to pinch any sent message in a chat and select "Edit Message" from the menu that appears.
According to the support page, there is no time limit for editing posts. During testing, it was found that even old posts on the platform can be edited. However, you can only make 5 edits per post. The social network applies the same restriction on editing posts.
While X has stated that it keeps a log of edited posts for security reasons, it does not currently show the version history of edited posts.
Users have been expecting the ability to edit their messenger messages since other chat apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal and Messenger have had this feature for a while now. Apple also added the ability to edit messages sent via iMessage with iOS 16.
