Tesla is preparing to launch a six-seater Model Y in China by the end of 2025
Tesla plans to launch a six-seater version of the Model Y in China by the end of 2025. This will help the company remain a leader in the fast-growing electric vehicle market in China.
Here's What We Know
Although the 7-seater Model Y is already available in the US, Tesla has decided to offer a more spacious six-seater configuration for China to meet the specific needs of local consumers.
The six-seater configuration of the Model Y will strike a balance between passenger capacity and comfort, addressing the third-row crampedness often found in seven-seater versions.
Tesla also expects increased demand for the new model and is already planning to significantly increase production at its Shanghai Gigafactory.
The move also comes as more and more competitors are entering the market, such as Nio's Onvo L60 and Zeekr 7X, which offer spacious interiors and competitive prices.
Tesla is also working on an updated 5-seater version of the Model Y, codenamed Juniper, which could hit the market in 2025.
