New rumours from Nikkei Asia indicate that the upcoming iPhone SE 4, which is expected to be released early next year, may replace its LCD screen with an OLED panel.

Here's What We Know

If this is confirmed, all Apple smartphones will have OLED screens, which will mean the end of cooperation with Japanese companies Japan Display (JDI) and Sharp, which supplied LCD displays.

Nikkei also reports that Apple is in talks with BOE Technology Group of China and LG of South Korea to supply new OLED displays. It is noted that the supply of LCD panels for Apple from JDI and Sharp decreased by 90% between 2015 and 2023.

This change could be a significant step in the development of the budget iPhone series, and will also affect the overall design of the new product.

The official announcement of the iPhone SE 4 may take place as early as next week at the Apple event.
