In September 2024, David Game College in London launched a new education programme with artificial intelligence (AI) as the primary teacher.

Here's What We Know

The programme, called Sabrewing, adapts to each student's individual needs by analysing their strengths and weaknesses and customising the curriculum accordingly. There are also 3 "learning coaches" present in the classroom to help students and intervene when the AI fails, especially in subjects like art and sex education.

The college administration believes that AI can offer a more adaptive and personalised approach to learning than traditional methods. The programme has already attracted the attention of education experts and could be a breakthrough in the use of AI in educational institutions. However, optimism is countered by concerns about the impact of the technique on students' social and emotional development, given the diminishing number of human teachers who typically act as role models and mentors.
