Google's Pixel 9 smartphones have made changes to the reverse wireless charging feature
Owners of Google's Pixel 9 series of smartphones have encountered an unexpected limitation in the reverse wireless charging feature. Unlike previous models, the Pixel 9 automatically disables the Battery Share feature, which is used for reverse wireless charging, when connected to a wired charger.
What it affects
This change is aimed at reducing heat and extending battery life. However, this limitation may disappoint users who are used to charging their phone and other devices at the same time. In addition, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, despite its high price, is completely devoid of wireless charging back support. This makes it the only device in the Pixel lineup that is incompatible with Google's expensive wireless charger.
While the Pixel 9 series offers improved battery life, the limited Battery Share functionality could be a drawback for those who use the feature frequently, charging devices simultaneously wired and wirelessly.
