Sony's platformer Astro Bot has become the highest-rated 2024 game on Metacritic, but there's a nuance to it

We already reported that not only critics were delighted with the colourful platformer Astro Bot from Sony and Team Asobi studio, but also a reviewer from our editorial team, who shared his impressions in a detailed piece.

The novelty received 94 points on Metacritic and this made it the most highly rated game of 2024, but there is a small clarification.

Here's What We Know

In fact, the highest rated project of 2024 is the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion for Elden Ring, which received a 95 score. But since it's DLC and not a standalone game, the top spot goes to Astro Bot, and its closest competitor is another PS5 exclusive - Final Fantasy VII Rebirth with 92 points.

Thus, the adventurous game about a cute robot overtook such hits as Balatro (91), Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth (90), Hades II (90) and Black Myth: WuKong (82).

Astro Bot releases on 6 September and there's no doubt that gamers will remain as excited about the game as the critics.
