Lithuania to allocate EUR 10 million for production of Ukrainian drone missile "Palianytsia"
During a meeting at the Ramstein base, Lithuanian Defence Minister Laurynas Kasciunas said that his country intends to allocate funds for the production of Palyanytsia in Ukraine.
Here's What We Know
"If we cannot provide enough weapons, then we must lift all restrictions on the transfer of Western weapons to Ukraine or invest in Ukrainian long-range weapons," the minister said.
Among the various options for which Lithuania is ready to allocate funds is the Ukrainian-made Palyanytsia UAV. The option of a ballistic missile system is also being considered.
According to him, the allocation of funds for the production of long-range drones or missiles allows Ukraine to decide independently where and what enemy targets to destroy.
Flashback
The Palianytsia drone missile is a Ukrainian development that was presented on 24 August 2024, although the drone had successfully hit targets before that. It is known that Palianytsia is launched from a ground-based platform and has a range of up to 700 km. This means that there are about 20 Russian airfields in the target area.
