A well-known tech whistleblower Ice Universe has revealed an important detail about the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor. According to him, the price of the new chip has increased by 20.68% compared to the previous generation.

Here's What We Know

Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 now costs about $240, while Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 cost $200. This is almost half the price of the most affordable smartphones with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, such as the Redmi K70 Pro with 12/256 GB of storage, which sells for $507.76 on Trading Shenzen. Such a significant increase in cost could affect the price of new flagship smartphones, which are likely to become more expensive.

This information has been confirmed by earlier reports from Digital Chat Station and is backed up by new leaks.

The increased price is expected to be justified by significant improvements in the new chip. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be Qualcomm's first mobile processor to feature its own Oryon cores, which have already been used in ARM's Snapdragon X series of laptop chips.

This innovation will allow the chip to compete with well-known x86 processors from Intel and AMD.

Additionally, the chipset will receive an updated Adreno 8-series GPU. It is worth noting that the price report is not official and the cost may vary depending on the manufacturer. For example, Samsung may receive special conditions for its flagship models with new SoCs.
