Foreign Minister Melanie Jolie said on Tuesday, 10 September, that Canada had suspended about 30 arms sales to Israel.

Here's What We Know

All the export permits were approved before the January ban on new sales of weapons that could be used in the Gaza Strip. Joly said she had ordered a review of all Canadian arms suppliers' contracts with Israel and other countries.

"Since this summer, I have suspended about 30 existing permits for Canadian companies," she said.

Canada, which is a key ally of the United States and provides Israel with millions of dollars in military aid, sparked the anger of Israeli politicians when it announced that it would stop new arms sales to Israel on 8 January.

It is worth noting that pro-Palestinian protests have been taking place in Canada in recent months. They have been striking at universities, political events, and even at the Toronto International Film Festival last week. That's why the government has made concessions.

"Our policy is clear: we will not send any form of weaponry or weapon parts to Gaza. Period," Jolie added.
