The Ministry of Finance has imposed sanctions against individuals, organisations and vessels of Iran and Russia that help arm the Russian Federation with Iranian drones and ballistic missiles.

Here's What We Know

The United States imposed sanctions on Iran because it transferred ballistic missiles to Russia. In late 2023, the country signed a contract with Russia to supply hundreds of missiles. In the summer of 2024, Russian military personnel were trained in the use of Iranian Fateh-360 missiles, and in early September 2024, Russia received the first batch of these missiles from Iran.

Restrictions were imposed on Iran Air, an airline that provides both passenger and transport services, as well as on four ships that delivered Iranian drones and missiles to Russia.

The sanctions also targeted officials of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Iranian Ministry of Defence. The list includes 16 people in total.

It is worth noting that the United Kingdom joined the United States in imposing restrictions on the Baharestan Kish Company, a drone manufacturer, five Russian arms ships, and the Russian Aerospace Forces. In addition, Britain, along with France and Germany, announced that they would cancel flights with Iran.
