Crimson Desert was announced in 2020, but so far Pearl Abyss studio has been reluctant to share details of the ambitious action-RPG, which will be a single-player spin-off of the popular MMORPG Black Desert.

One of the few reveals of the game took place in August at gamescom 2024, where the developers showed an epic battle with a mighty boss.

At the German exhibition IGN journalists got the opportunity to get acquainted with the demo version of Crimson Desert and finally published its video walkthrough.

Here's What We Know

Viewers were shown almost an hour of gameplay of Crimson Desert. Gamers can see the beginning of the story, the protagonist Cliff, his combat abilities, moving around the vast and extremely colourful open world on foot, on horseback and in the guise of a bird.

The developers also showed some staged scenes, as well as fights with monsters and humans, and the shown footage once again confirmed that the Korean action game is extremely similar to many popular modern games, including The Witcher 3, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Elden Ring, Final Fantasy XVI, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Dragon's Dogma 2. Whether this is a good or bad thing is hard to say yet, but the game looks great.

When We Can Expect It

No official release date for Crimson Desert has been given yet, according to insider information the game will be released in 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
