According to SpeedSmart, the new iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max deliver a noticeable increase in 5G speeds thanks to the new Qualcomm Snapdragon X75 modem.

Here's What We Know

Testing has shown that 5G download speeds on these models have increased by an average of 23.7% over the previous generation.

Verizon customers saw the biggest improvement, with a 26.4% speed boost, delivering average download speeds of over 400Mbps. T-Mobile also delivered impressive results, with an average speed of 447.50Mbps, while AT&T delivered 269.48Mbps - a 25.7% speed improvement over previous models.

The Snapdragon X75 modem not only increases speeds, but also reduces power consumption and improves 5G aggregation. Note that standard iPhone 16 models are likely to use the older Snapdragon X70 modem, although this information has not yet been officially confirmed.

All iPhone 16 models now also support Wi-Fi 7, which promises significant improvements in speed and reduced latency.

Apple will open pre-orders for the new iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro on Friday, 13 September. First shipments and in-store availability will begin on 20 September.
