SpaceX tests new EVA spacesuits in outer space: 20 minutes of testing during private Polaris Dawn mission

SpaceX has demonstrated its new Extravehicular Activity (EVA) space suits during the first private spacewalk. The test, which took place during the Polaris Dawn mission, was a significant step forward in preparing for future space missions.

The EVA space suit, designed specifically for Mars missions, replaces the bulky old models. It has a lightweight design and the latest technology to increase the flexibility and comfort of astronauts.

During the test, the crew, including billionaire Jared Isaac and SpaceX engineer Sarah Gillis, tested the suit's mobility and functionality while in outer space for 20 minutes.

The suit is equipped with new materials, a 3D-printed helmet with a visor to reduce glare, and a Heads-Up Display (HUD) system for monitoring important parameters such as pressure and temperature. It also includes improvements for reliability and safety, including seals and pressure valves.

Elon Musk noted that millions of such spacesuits will be needed to colonise the Moon and Mars, and SpaceX is committed to creating more functional and scalable solutions for future space missions. He also said that the first unmanned mission to Mars could take place in 2026, with a possible human flight in 2028.
