Ammunition production plant launches in Ukraine
The Ukrainian defence industry has launched the production of 5.45×39 and 5.56×45 mm ammunition for the Ukrainian army.
Here's What We Know
The authors of the Pro Obyruch telegram channel published several photos from the range where they fired 45×39 mm ammunition made in Ukraine.
The Militarnyi publication concluded that the cartridges were fired with a bullet with a 4 gram all-metal jacket. Its tail part has a rounded conical shape, which should have a positive impact on ballistic characteristics and shot accuracy.
The authors of the photos also said that the ballistics of Ukrainian ammunition at a distance of 400 metres is similar to that of Soviet 7N6 (5.45 PS) army ammunition.
A real debate erupted in the comments: subscribers said that the bullet was equipped with a steel core, which ensured proper penetration. People also posted photos of identical packages of Ukrainian-made ammunition in the NATO 5.56×45 mm calibre.
Some of the packages are marked with the SS109 cartridge standard. They are equipped with an all-metal bullet with a lead core and a non-hardened steel tip. The author of the photo said that Ukrainian-made ammunition in this calibre has been in service for a long time.
